  3. Sounds like a great script, however, I’m having problems.
I am using photoshop 7 and get the following error message:
“Could not complete the command because of a program error”

Perhaps I need a later version of photoshop? Any ideas?

  4. Hi Peter – I’ve only heard of that happening to one other person and I’m still not entirely sure why that message pops up. It might be because you’re using an older version of Photoshop yes (to my knowledge this should work with CS3 and CS2, not sure about others). Also it might be because there isn’t enough memory in Photoshop to run the script (since it’s a large file). Try running the template file, then changing the image size by lowering the DPI (not the pixels). Then try running the eBook file again.

Let me know if any of those work!

  6. It sounds like the problem is Photoshop 7. Unfortunately I only have CS3 so I can’t make an action compatible with the earlier version. :( Sorry about this!
Consider making your eBook by hand, try it out: http://mintyferret.com/photoshop/ecover-ebook-3-d-box-tutorial/

  7. excellent action… takes seconds what took hours…

  8. Yep I’m thinking it’s a photoshop 7 issue.

It fails very early – the dpi is 72 and lowering from there does solve.

    Guess it’s time to upgrade!
    thanks for your help,
    Peter

  9. This is fab, just used it in CS3 THANKS!!!!!

  10. Thanks for this action script — it really makes things easier. there’s a similar script at: http://spentoggle.deviantart.com/art/e-Cover-Action-Script-2-77366448 if anyone is interested.

  14. BRILLIANT! Simply Brilliant! Thank you for creating this ONLY ebook cover tutorial that has helped me out. I’ve blogged about this on mine. BRILLIANT!

  15. Awesome script. Do you have a similar script to design a cd box with CD jutting out from it? Would be fabulous for adding to ebay listings.
    Thanks.

  16. AMAZING!!

    THANK YOU!!

    you’re the best

  17. That is absolutely terrific! I’m wanting to publish my first e-book by the end of next month, so I’m looking into all these overwhelming little details. I don’t have Photoshop; but if someone wants to send me a quote (through my website), I’d be glad to hire out that task! Thanks for sharing your wisdom & expertise!

  18. I downloaded the action and followed the instructions. I wasn’t sure it would work because I ended up with lots of extra layers in Photoshop, but it worked beautifully. I saved $40 on software, AND was able to design my cover using one of my own pictures. I can’t thank you enough!

  19. Thank you for this great software.

Even it is FREE, but it works.

  20. didnt work for me :(

  21. im having problems to download the file. it comes as corrupted/not valid file. how can i download it? thanks

  30. You mentioned that we csn use them with photoshop software. Any disadvantages when using them with the free photoshop software?
There are many new comers and students trying free things nowadays. Good that you have some kind of FAQs here.

  31. One of the best tools higlighted here.
    Thanks for the write up.

  32. This worked great on my CS3, but I am a total newbie with photoshop and wondered if anyone can tell me how I can do the following:

I want to use an image I have on file for the cover. How do I open up the image to use with this template?

I have fiddled around and tried to find out by using the ‘help’ but either my peepers are not working properly or I’m brain dead (most likely a bit of both to be honest).

  33. Thank you. Thank you Thank. I can’t say it enough. This is awesome!

  35. Thank you. I think you are great for making this available!

  36. Thanks ever so much. I appreciate your generosity and creativity. I’ve been using photoshop for a few years and didn’t even know about actions. Oops!
Your program worked beautifully. Perhaps you could put a paypal button somewhere for folks to donate to you?

  37. Fantastic! I always build my ebook cover by hand – will certainly be using this from now on! Stumbled and tweeted.

  38. It really really really helps. Thanks! I’ll subscribe for your posts.

  39. Thank You and Love you so much!
I was sad that I couldn’t create covers for my ebooks and I don’t have bucks to invest in a cover creator software. It might be just 25$, but for an Indian, it’s a huge sum! Thank you so much! You saved my time and money.

Come up with ideas like more this and God will bless you for that! My suggestion would be to create another cover generator that can develop box shaped Software packs with a CD resting on the box, another lying on the table, just like how people do it for promoting their products on the Clickbank etc. I’m developing some template designs and I want to create a package like that…

Once again, a heart full of thanks. I feel glad that I ‘stumbled’ into this website. Subscribing it right away.

P.S.: There is no problem if I use the cover to promote my ebook right? Or is it restricted to Personal/Private use?

  40. Thanks dude this totally worked. good Job!!
